OWAP Association Accompanies the First President of the North Courts on Her Visit to Tripoli Prisons

As part of monitoring prison conditions and reviewing inmates' needs and the general conditions inside prisons, and in coordination between the Internal Security Forces and the General Directorate of Prisons in Lebanon, and with the participation of the OWAP Association represented by its president Father Basilios Debs, its secretary lawyer Dr. Elie El Bitar, and lawyers' committee member Ms. May Haddad, Judge Nidal Chamseddine, First President of the North Courts, inspected Tripoli's male and female prison. She was received by the Regional Commander of Tripoli Brigadier General Baha Al-Samad, the Deputy Commander of the North Region Colonel Ibrahim Al-Rached, the Prison Warden Lieutenant Colonel Abdel Latif Chaar, along with a number of relevant officers and the General Chaplain of Prisons in Lebanon Father Jean Moura.
The visit was also attended by North Appeals Public Prosecutor Judge Hani Helmi Al-Hajjar, First Investigating Judge Naji Al-Dahdah, Judicial Council Judge Nazem Al-Khoury, Judge Lara Kouzak, and Judge Ahmad Taqieddine.
The delegation also included Acting Governor of the North Iman Al-Rafei, District Administrator of Bcharre Rabab Chafchak, representative of the Mufti of Tripoli Sheikh Safwan Al-Chaar, representative of the head of the Alawite Islamic Council Sheikh Mohammad Abdul Karim, secretary of the Prisons Liaison Committee lawyer Bernadette Deeb, and lawyers Youssef Al-Douaihy and Badawi Al-Sabaa Douaihy.
During the visit, she toured the prison sections with the participants, listened to some inmates' problems, and reviewed the conditions and suffering of the inmates.
