*OWAP Association Celebrates Divine Liturgy at Jbeil Prison*
The Orthodox Welfare Association for Prisoners (OWAP Association), represented by its president Father Basilios Debs, celebrated a Divine Liturgy at Jbeil Prison.
The liturgy saw a distinguished attendance, led by Father Paul Jabbour, priest of the Orthodox parish of Our Lady of Deliverance - Jbeil, alongside chanter Elias Haddad, whose spiritual voice added a profound sense of faith to the atmosphere. Also present was Captain Suleiman Modaffar, warden of Jbeil Prison, along with prison staff, in addition to a number of inmates who participated devoutly in the prayers and Byzantine hymns.
This initiative is part of the Church's and the Association's mission to accompany people wherever they are, especially in places where hope and comfort are needed, so that the joy of Christ remains present even behind bars.
Father Paul Jabbour delivered a homily emphasizing the importance of the unity of believers, since Christ called everyone to come together around true love that transcends all divisions. He affirmed that Christianity carries a message of inner and outer peace, starting from the human heart to reach society as a whole. He also stressed that love is the essence of faith, and that forgiveness and reconciliation are the true path to freedom, even inside prisons.
This encounter left a profound spiritual impact on those present, as everyone experienced the meaning of fellowship and living faith, in an atmosphere of devotion and hope, and at the end, sweets and juice were distributed to the inmates.
