OWAP congratulates the Head of Lebanon's Prisons Division on his promotion

Father Basilios Debs, President of the Orthodox Welfare Association for Prisoners and representative of the Greek Orthodox community on the National Higher Committee for Prisons, visited Colonel Emir Ismail Al-Ayoubi, Head of the Prisons Division of the Internal Security Forces, at his office in the Regional Gendarmerie Unit in Sin El Fil. He was joined by Father Jean Moura, General Chaplain of the General Prison Chaplaincy in Lebanon (established by the Council of Catholic Patriarchs and Bishops) and parish priest of Ehden-Zgharta, and by journalist Joseph Mahfoud, head of the Chaplaincy's central public relations committee. The colonel's deputy, Major Sarkis Namnoum, was also present.

The delegation offered their heartfelt congratulations on his recent promotion and placed all their resources at the service of the human person and of prisoners in our beloved Lebanon. They then discussed with Colonel Al-Ayoubi the general issues affecting prisons, in particular release on bail and the reduction of sentences with the judicial committees. The delegation expressed its readiness to cooperate and sent warm greetings to the Commander of the Regional Gendarmerie Unit, General Jean Awad.

Colonel Al-Ayoubi thanked the delegation for an initiative filled with love and faith, and promised further cooperation in the service and interest of Lebanon's prisons.
